Paul Moehling thinks the coaches at Maine West are "the greatest in the state." This 5' 10" senior should know because of his first‑hand experience in basketball and football, his favorite sports.
He has earned two letters in football and one in basketball, with the probability of earning another letter in basketball this season.
The football game that Paul enjoyed most was the Peoria game. He said, "It was a great thrill!" Paul also stated that winning the Prospect game was another moment of glory.
As for managing to keep up with his studying with the hours of practice, Paul said, "Sometimes I don't." However, Paul said he usually gets home from practice at 6:30 and does his homework after dinner.
Paul acquired an interest in sports from his boy friends. He said that most of his friends were interested in sports, so he learned to take an interest in them also.

He thinks that the hardest thing about practice is going out every night and trying to acquire perfection. As for advice to boys going out for basketball, Paul said that they must like the sport, be willing to work hard, and listen to the coach.
Paul said that sports have made him learn about other athletes and the coaches.
To improve school spirit at Maine West, Paul feels it would help if more people went out for sports.
Paul's pet peeves are high heeled shoes for boys and some of the hairdos of the girls.
In junior high at Algonquin, he participated in basketball which, according to him, was "kind of a loose thing because they just ran around."
As for Paul's plans for the future, he said he wants the best college education possible and to be able to participate in college athletics. He is considering Brown University for this education. After college, Paul would "like to go to Europe; I guess everybody would."
