Offer 'Ceremony of Carols'

The Maine West Music Department will present its annual Christmas concert, "The Ceremony of Carols," on December 11, at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission for students is $.75 and $1.00 for adults.

Tickets will be sold at the door only; there will be no advance reservations. Music Booster tickets will be honored, and membership for the Music Boosters Club can still be obtained at the door that night.


Brass Choir

The Brass Choir, a newly formed ensemble from the Concert Band, will perform the following numbers in the prologue: "While by My Sheep," "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming," "I Saw Three Ships," "March of the Kings," and the choral prelude from "From Heaven on High I Come to You."

"March of the Toys" from "Babes in Toyland" by Herbert Isaac, and the "Sleigh Ride" by Mozart and arranged by Isaac will be presented by the Junior Orchestra.

The two Girls' Choruses will combine to sing "Ye Fields of Light, Celestial Plains" by Johann Wolfgang Franck and "The First Lullaby" by Marilyn J. Rinehart.

Boys' Chorus will present "0 Come All Ye Faithful" arranged by Gearhart and the Negro spiritual, "Go, Tell It on the Mountains," arranged by Huntley.

Concert Orchestra

The numbers presented by the Concert Orchestra will include the overture from "The Barber of Seville" by Rossini, "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" by Leon

Jessel‑arranged by Morton Gould, "Carol of the Drum" by Katherine Davis‑arranged by Wright, and "White Christmas" by Irving Berlin‑arranged by R. R. Bennett. Also featured in the Concert Orchestra's program will be an original composition entitled "Prelude f o r Christmas" by Richard Hudson '66, who will also conduct the number.

"Prelude and Fugue (Allegro)" by Giannini will be presented by the String Orchestra.

Girls' Glee Club will sing two songs from "A Ceremony of Carols" by Benjamin Britten "This Little Babe" and "Wolcum Yole."


Choraliers Sing

"Come, Ye Gay Shepherds," a sixteenth‑century madrigal by Guillaume Costeley, will be sung by the Choraliers in addition to "Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head," an Appalachian carol, arranged by Warrell.

Last on the program will be four numbers by the A Cappella Choir. They are "Halleluia, Amen" by Handel, "Praise Ye The Name of the Lord" by Tchaikovsky, "0 Bambino (One Cold and Blessed Winter)" by Capra and Velona, and "A Christmas Canticle" by Nevett Bartow with Harriet Hall '66 as the narrator.
