Tonight the Warriors face the Maine South Hawks and hope for their first win of the year.
Niles West downed Maine West last Saturday by a score of 52 to 41. After the first quarter the Warriors had a strong lead of 20 to 12, but by the half were trailing 27 to 26. The third quarter ended with the Warriors behind by only three points, 36 to 33. Coming on strong in the final quarter, Niles West was able to gain 16 more points to Maine West's eight. Again the final score was Niles West 52, Maine West 41.
The night before also saw the Warriors winning after the first quarter, but only by one point. After that, however, the Glenbrook North Spartans went ahead to defeat the Warriors by 18 points. At the half Maine West was losing 23 to 17 and by the end of the third quarter was still behind, 37 to 25. The crushing baskets were made in the final quarter with the Spartans advancing the score to 53 to Maine West's 35.

On November 24 the Warriors met Waukegan for the first home game of the season. In this game, however, Maine West lost in all of the quarters. The first quarter ended with Maine West losing ti to 14. At the half the score increased‑the Warriors having 19 points while the Wildcats reached 24. The third quarter still saw the Warriors behind 38 to 45; and although Maine West put on a strong drive, the Wildcats came through to win 63 to 57.
During the J.V. game against Waukegan, there was a brief span during the game when the Warriors had six players on the court. The basketball referees did not spot the sixth man until after two returns had been made. When this brief experience with six players was noticed, Waukegan was awarded a free shot. The J.V.'s lost the game 32 to 50.
The closest score of the season came against Barrington on November 19. Maine West led during the first half but gave the ball away too many times and finally lost a heartbreaker 45 to 49.
