"If you're a boy out for the gymnastics team, you should work hard, stick with it, and do what the coaches say," advises Don Kennett, this week's Warrior of the West. This 5'8", 130 pound, brown‑haired gymnast has stuck with gymnastics since his freshman year. This year Don is a fine parallel barsman and is shooting for his varsity letter.
Don has already earned his sophomore letter in gymnastics and this year plans on going out for the golf team. He rated golf as his favorite sport.
"One thing I have learned from sports is that they take a lot of hard work. I think the toughest part of gymnastics is working on routines."
Don's favorite meet was against Evanston when he took a second. Evanston is rated as the toughest team in the Conference. When asked how he keeps up with his studies, Don said, "I make good use of my study halls."

Last summer Don went to a gymnastics clinic at Maine East to keep in shape. Don's brother John (Rock) was also a gymnast and was on the squad last year before his graduation.
When asked what he thought was the most outstanding feature of Maine West, Don stated, "Our interscholastic sports program is one of the best. I do believe, though, that more people could come out for and be spectators of the minor sports."
Don's favorite athlete is Gale Sayers, the star rookie halfback of the Chicago Bears.
The one thing Don would most like to change about himself is his height. "I would like to be taller," he revealed.
In eighth grade Don was on Algonquin's basketball team, which he remembers as "a very big deal."
What is Don looking forward to most in the future? "College and its social life." Don would like to attend the Kansas State College.
