'Boys' Club didn't put on the formal to make money but as a service to the school. We tried to give as good a dance as we possibly could, for as little as we could, without cutting corners," remarked Mr. Killam, sponsor of the club.
And what a dance it was! Swirls of plush velvet, airy taffeta, and rich silk, donned by the young ladies, accented the beautiful, unusual decorations.
Queen Crowned
The highlight of the dance, of course, was the crowning of Linda Olson '66 as the Christmas queen. Her attendants, Sue Ziegler '66, Jan Grubert '67, Sue Odom '68, and Martha Bushey '69 all had starlight in their eyes as they danced to the music of the nationally-known Frank Derrik orchestra.

"Snowflakes by Starlight," held from 8:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, was a grand success not only in the eyes of the Boys' Club who worked so hard, but in the eyes of all the "queens" and their escorts.
Post Office
The Annual Christmas Post Office, another Boys' Club sponsored activity, once again was widely used by the students. Cards could be sent to students at Maine East and Maine South as well as to students here at West. Christmas is truly a time for the Boys' Club to prove its value to the school.
