"You can't get any place if you don't want to work hard," is what Greg Gundling '66, diver on the varsity swim team, has learned from participation in sports. "Stay with it and work hard," is the advice from Greg for a newcomer to a sport.
This 5'7", blonde‑haired, blue-eyed, 150 pound senior boy thinks that placing third in conference was his most outstanding meet so far. Greg has been out for swimming all of his four years at Maine West. When he was a sophomore, he dove on varsity but did not earn his letter; however, last year, as a junior, Greg worked hard and received his varsity letter.

Diving is Greg's favorite sport because it is a "challenge to try to do some difficult dives." As for what is the most outstanding thing about Maine West, Greg answered, "the coaches."
"Being able to teach physical education after I get out of college" is what Greg is looking forward to most in the future. If college does not follow high school, Greg would like to join the Marine Corps for a while. Greg's ambition is to be "a little taller and to improve my scholastic ability."
Greg's hobby, though diving is his favorite, is sports. Greg's favorite athlete is Mickey Mantle.
