Music Rings

The Illinois Music Educators Association will hold its annual State Musical Festival in Peoria from January 20 through 22. Participants in the Festival from Maine West are Richard Hudson '66, Jon Koumoungis '66, Dotsy Wagar '66, and Dennis Young '66.

In the State Festival Orchestra, Jon and Dotsy will be playing violas; Rich will play the tuba and Dennis the clarinet in the State Festival Band. They will be accompanied to Peoria by Mr. Robert Kuite and Mrs. Mildred Heidorn. All of the participants and their chaperones will be housed in the Pere Marquette Hotel, Peoria.

Their schedule will contain tryouts, seating arrangements, rehearsals, and a dance. The climax of the three days will come at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Pere Marquette's Grand Ballroom, for at that time the Grand Finale Concert will begin.

The State Festival Band, with Paul Van Bodegraven as guest conductor, will play "Festive Overture" by Shosakovich; "Chorale" by Nelybel; "Variants on a Medieval Tune" by Dello Joio; and "March, Opus 99" by Prokofieff.

The State Festival Orchestra, with George C. Wilson as guest conductor, will perform the following numbers: "Symphony No. 2, Third Movement" by Giannini; "Fantasia on the Alleluia Hymn" by Jacob; and "A Night on Bald Mountain" by Thompson.
