Now that 1966 is here, it's time to take a closer look at just what Student Council will be doing for the next few months.
January is a planning month. Hard work is being put into this year's Variety Show to make it one of the most outstanding and entertaining productions ever held at Maine West. The time and effort put into set‑building, costume designing, and rehearsals will culminate in the all‑school performance held February 3, 4, and 5. Don't miss this magnificent display of Maine West's talent and ingenuity.
Also being planned in January is the LIVING PICTURES ASSEMBLY. The Honors Committee ‑ in an attempt to stir up real patriotism ‑ will present the story of America. Beginning with the signing of the Declaration of Independence, songs, narration, and living pictures will trace the heritage of our country to the present.

March brings AFS WEEK.
During this week money will be raised in unusual ways in order that Maine may have a foreign exchange student, again, for 1966‑67. The week promises many new and exciting activities.
Also in March is ELECTION WEEK. Speeches, assemblies, posters, tags, skits, and harried candidates and their managers are all a part of this frantic week that will determine next year's Student Council leaders. The success of this week depends directly on the participation of the student body. Come out and back a candidate; join in and become a real part of the elections; but most of all, be sure to register and vote. A word to prospective candidates‑begin to plan your campaigns now. Remember, this is your time and your challenge!
These, then, are a few of the activities planned for the upcoming months. If you have any ideas about how they may be improved, place your suggestion in the boxes located outside of the Attendance Office‑pUt the U in yoUr StUdent CoUncil.
