Musclemen To Face F.V. In Conference

The gymnasts have gotten off to a poor start, losing their first seven meets, yet the musclemen hope to improve in their first Conference game against Forest View tonight. The meet will be here at Maine West and will start at 7:30 p.m.

Maine West's varsity gymnasts lost by a score of 72 1/2 ‑ 59 1/2 last Friday in a meet against Glenbrook South.

Working on the trampoline for Maine were Larry Janssens, who placed last; Dennis Zick, who placed fourth; and Ray Mandel, who placed fifth. During the meet Janssens fell off the trampoline.

Maine had Larry Scully, Ron Sass, and Don Clark working the side horse. Scully took second; Sass finished sixth; and Clark placed fifth.

On the horizontal bar for our gymnasts were Jim Nerius, who placed first; Jay Carley, who took second; and Ron Sass, who tied for second.

Bruce Kennett, Ron Sass, and Ken Malten placed first, second, and sixth, respectively, on the parallel bars.

Working the rings for Maine were John Holtz, Tim Harrity, and Dennis Zick. Holtz placed fifth; Harrity was fourth; and Zick took third.

Our tumbling gymnasts were Ray Mandel and Dennis Zick. Mandel took fourth and Zick grabbed second.

Other Conference meets will be held January 21 when the musclemen meet Conant, January 28 when they battle Prospect, February 4 when we meet Wheeling, and February 11 against Palatine. The Conference meet, involving all six teams in the Conference, will be held on February 26.
