Swim Team To Host Niles West Tonight

On January 8 the Maine West swim team participated in the Riverside‑Brookfield Relays. Twenty‑seven schools, a few which are state powers, were represented in this daylong swim meet. G. T. Wenzel '67 qualified in the preliminaires in the 50 yard free style and tied for fifth place in the finals. The sophomore 200 yard medley relay, consisting of Chris Olander '69, Tim Hinde '68, Paul Anderson '68, and Jim Greenwald '68, qualified in the afternoon preliminaires. In the evening finals, the sophomore 200, yard medley relay took a second. Chris Olander '69 missed qualifying in the 100 yard back stroke by one‑tenth of a second, and Dave Klamer '67 missed qualifying by one second in the 100 yard breast stroke.

On December 18 the Maine West tankers hosted the Forest View swim team and won 64-30. Norm Hudson '67, Dave Klamer '67, Jim Greenwald '68, and Dave Eley '67 took a first place in the 200 yard medley relay. In the 200 yard free style,

Dan Brinkman '68 swam to a second and Larry Harrison '67 a third. G. T. Wenzel '67 and Keith Gyssler '67 captured first and second respectively in the 50 yard free style.

Freshman Chris Olander took a first in the 200 yard individual medley and Dave Eley '67 a third. Greg Gundling '66 dove to a first in the diving. Tab Fulle '67 swam to a second in the 100 yard butterfly. G. T. Wenzel '67 and Fred Strudthoff '67 took a first and third in the 100 yard free style. Norm Hudson '67 captured a first and Bill Van Buren '67 a second in the 100 yard back stroke.

Chris Olander '69 and Tab Fulle '67 took second and third respectively in the 400 yard free style. Gary Robbins '66 swam to a first and Dave Klamer '67 a second in the 100 yard breast stroke. Fred Strudthoff '67, Keith Gyssler '67, Dan Brinkman '68, and Jim Greenwald '68 combined to take a first in the 400 yard style relay.
