West Reviews a Smash V-Show

The first performance of V‑ Show was given successfully last night in the Maine West auditorium.

DANCE CHORUS OPENS

The show opened to the tune, "From This Moment On." For this performance the dance chorus was dressed up to represent the 12 months of the year.

The first act consisted of a variety of songs and dances. Routines such as a monster dance and a "Sadie Hawkins Day" skit‑dance were included.

Music ranged from classical to the top beats as Curt Hayward played a classical piano solo while later on the top beats were represented in a drum act entitled "The Mighty Two Plus Seven." The mighty two are Bob Burgess '66, and Jerry Vogts '67.

FACULTY SKIT

Highlighting the first act was a skit made up and directed by Mr. Daniel Holbrook. The cast of this skit consisted entirely of teachers. Those teachers participating were Mr. Garth Boyer, Mr. Richard Frey, Miss Dorothy Riddle, and Mrs. Jean Klaus.

Christmas morning was also brought in. The skit was based on children coming to watch the toys, underneath the Christmas tree, wake up.

SLEIGH RIDE

Also included in winter was the dance chorus production entitled "Sleigh Ride."

The second act included a dance chorus production o f "Tales of the Vienna Woods" and another to "Heat Wave." On the humorous side was a take off on the current folk singers Sonny and Cher. The act was named "Bunny and Bear" with Betty Riska '66 as Bunny and Bill Jonas '66 as Bear.

EASTER MODELS

Mark Burchard '66, sang a solo, "Summer Sounds," in Act II. Spring cleaning was brought in to the tune "Chim Chim Chiree." Also in spring was a fashion show in which the models displayed Easter bonnets.

GYPSY DANCE

Other acts included a luau dance to "The Baby Elephant Walk," a melodrama, a pantomime called "The Night of the Prom" and a Gypsy dance.

The Grand Finale was "That's Entertainment." The whole cast participated in this last review of "Stage West '66."

Nancy Carlson, this year's coordinator, stated, "The show was fabulous; the kids did a wonderful job in the 1966 presentation of V‑Show."
