Around The Campus

All senior math, accelerated, and advanced and college algebra classes were given the primary math tests yesterday, February 3. The 60 highest scorers on this test will compete in the National Math Contest on March 10.

Last year the team from Maine West was second in the state competition while Maine West's Mike Amling was state winner.

Mr. David Henry, chairman of the test here at Maine, is hoping "this year's contestants will work hard to defend Maine West's high honors."

The speaking and dramatic talents of various students of Maine West will be exhibited February 12 at the District Speech Contest. The contest will be held at Notre Dame High School. Students entered are Doug Bergman, original oratory; Larry Hofmann, extempore speaking; Harriet Hall, serious reading; Donna Hostetler, prose reading; Dan McElligot, verse reading; Bob Stephenson, oratorical declamation; Harriet Hall, comedy reading. Also, Eugene O'Neill's play lie will be presented by Bob Stephenson, Beth Radcliffe, David Freer, Bruce MacDonald, Bob Connelly, Terry Ritter, Bob Stephenson and members of the crew, under the direction of Mr. Garth Boyer. In charge of the other contestants are Mrs. Jean Klaus and Mr. Dewane Barnes.
