GAA News

Maine West girls have once more shown that with a lot of hard work and practice even students can beat the professionals‑the teachers. On January 26, Carol Currier '66 and her volleyball tournament championship team defeated the faculty team in two out of three games. The first game was won by the faculty by a score of 14‑5. Then the students rallied and defeated the faculty in the next two games‑the first by a score of 10‑6 and then by a score of 12‑10.

The girls on Carol's team were Leora Winski '66, Karen Schacht '66, Linda Waters '66, Mary Klug '66, and Julie Szabo '66.

The faculty participants were Miss Corinne Clark, Mrs. Marlene Arbetman, Miss Karen Adolph, Miss Kathleen Van Ness, Miss June Thompson, and Miss Marsha Hyatt.

New sports for GAA have begun. On Monday and Tuesday after school in C‑wing gym, basketball will be played by all interested girls; and on Wednesday and Thursday, there will be badminton. The best badminton players will be on the extramural badminton team which will play other schools.

On January 22 the Maine West GAA went to a playday at Glenbrook South where they played basketball and had refreshments.

One reminder to all GAA members that the total GAA points will be listed on a bulletin board.
