Warrior of the West

"Have a lot of confidence. Believe in yourself, your coach, and your team," advises Ken Mueller '66. This 5' 10" Warrior also advises any boy coming out for basketball "not to get down in the dumps." Ken has blonde hair, blue eyes, has already earned one letter in football, and hopes to receive a letter in basketball this year.

Basketball is Ken's favorite sport because it offers "more challenge, more enjoyment, and more personal satisfaction than any other sport I have taken part in." Ken has always been interested in basketball and has been on the team for four years. He also feels that this sport can be distinguished from all others because it takes "real endurance."

Ken's favorite game was last year's match against Willow. brook in which he scored 28 points. He considers "getting into condition" the hardest part of training and keeps himself in condition by constantly working out.

During the summer Ken managed to keep in shape by working out at the YMCA. "A kid who goes out for a sport just to be on the team but doesn't really try" is Ken's pet peeve. If there was anything he could change about himself, it would be "to be 6' 4" tall."

"Pep club is doing a fine job," remarked Ken, "but maybe more pep rallies, even during school, would boost school spirit." Ken also commented on the size of the crowds at games saying, "Generally, attendance is good. But many times the kids don't participate enough."

Ken will try for a scholarship to play in college sports at Northern, Michigan, or Valparaiso colleges, where he will go further into the study of biochemistry.
