This week, Brotherhood Week, was a time of many activities. Throughout the week posters were displayed, and tags expressing the spirit of Brotherhood were handed out.
To start out the week, on Monday and Tuesday each homeroom voted for new members. The results were then tabulated, and the members were announced at the assemblies held on Thursday. Prior to Thursday there was a total of 30 boys and 30 girls in our Brotherhood Society.
At the Thursday assemblies Mr. Paul McKinnis, guidance counselor, gave a talk.
Mr. A. K. H. Cochrane, dean of students and sponsor of Brotherhood Society, said of Mr. McKinnis, "Maine West is very fortunate to have a man of his caliber and ability on its staff. We were very happy when he consented to talk to the student body on brotherhood."
A clothing drive was also the work of Brotherhood Society. The collection started on Monday, February 21 and will be terminated on Monday, February 28. Articles such as books, games, clothes of all sorts, records, toys‑just about everything‑was asked for. These things that may be deposited at the head of the cafeteria during all lunch periods and before school, will be delivered to the American Indian Association located on Sheridan Road in Chicago. This organization represents all Indian nations. They also send things to the Indians living in Wisconsin.

Upon the recommendation of a charity group, Dean Cochrane decided that this association would be a good one to help out. He also feels that it may be looked to in the future as a recipient of our support, for it is in constant need year round.
Nancy Carlson, vice‑president of Brotherhood Society, stated, "The American Indian Association really needs our help. This clothing drive would be a great way for Maine West to make brotherhood an action instead of just a word."
Though Brotherhood Week has come to an end, its message of good will toward all men will never end.
