Successor To Lead

Dr. Richard R. Short has been chosen as successor to Dr. Earle W. Wiltse as the superintendent of the Maine Township High Schools. Dr. Wiltse has served the township since 1959 and must retire because he has reached the age of 65. He will continue to work in the field of education as a professor at the graduate school of Northern Illinois University. Dr. Wiltse described his successor as "a creative, innovative young corner."

Dr. Short was selected from more than sixty applicants and is presently Superintendent of Schools at Hastings, Nebraska. He will bring to Maine a wide range of professional experience as a teacher, an assistant principal, principal, and superintendent.

Dr. Short was awarded the District Service Award in 1964 and is past president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics of Nebraska. He was also chosen by the American Association of School Administrators to make a study tour of the U.S.S.R.

Dr. Wiltse will retire on June 30, 1966, and then Dr. Short will officially become the new Superintendent of Schools for the Maine Township District Number 207.
