Coming up the week of March 7‑11, the Maine West Student Council will sponsor AFS Week. The purpose of this week is to raise money for next year's foreign exchange students.

On Monday nominations for the "Most Beautiful Big Toe" contest will take place in the cafeteria. Monday will also be "Honor the Foreign Exchange Students Day." Both Gus Herrero '66 and Velma Welch '66 will be presented with flowers and receive special recognition.

Voting in the cafeteria for the "Toe" contest will take place on Tuesday, March 8. The voting will continue all week.

Taffy apples will be sold after school during the week as part of the AFS festivities.

On Wednesday a carnival will be held after school from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Booths sponsored by the various clubs and social organizations will be set up in the cafeteria.

A combination bake sale and ice‑cream social in the cafeteria will be offered on Thursday.

Friday, March 11, the week will be closed with an after school record hop which will start at 3:15. The winner of the "Big Toe" contest will be announced. Tickets will be twenty-five cents at the door. Cokes will be ten cents extra.
