Musicians To Present Concert at 8

Members of the Maine West orchestras and choruses will present their Spring Concert tonight at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission prices are $1 for adults and $.75 for students. Student activity tickets are being honored for this concert, and it is hoped that this will bring out a better student attendance. General admission tickets may be purchased at the door.

The Intermediate Orchestra will make its first appearance of the year in Steg's "Symphony on Folk Songs" and a string interpretation of Richard Hayman's "Hullabaloo." The "Tennessee Waltz" from "Hullabaloo" will be accompanied by Sukru Gurel '67 on the mandolin.

The Girls' Glee will present "Veni Creato Spiritus" composed by Alois Bart Schmid and also "Jesu, Holy Spirit" by Mozart, directed by Miss Bette Burgan, accompanied by Sharon Jannusch '67.

The Choraliers, directed by Mr. Wilbur Schafer, will sing "All Creatures Now Are Merry Minded" by John Benet and "Let My Song Fill Your Heart" by Ernest Charles, accompanied by Don Behrens '68.

The String Orchestra, under the direction of Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, will play "Serenade," by Tchaikovsky. To set a different tone, the String Orchestra will also present the finale from the "St. Paul's Suite" which is a composition based on two themes‑an Irish jig and "Greensleeves."

To set the mood of the Lenten season, the Concert Choir will sing Alessandro Scarlatti's "Exsultate Deo" in its original Latin form. Also to be performed by the Concert Choir are "Roots and Leaves" by Ralph Williams and Houston Bright's "I hear a Voice a Prayin'." The selection "You Are Beautiful" from this year's musical, Flower Drum Song to be presented May 20, 21, and 22, will provide an interesting variety to the concert.

The Concert Orchestra will introduce the Maine West audience to the original source of the Maine West Alma Mater by playing the finale Brahms "Symphony No. 1 in C Minor." As a special feature Maine West's Concert Orchestra will perform Mendelssohn's "Piano Concerto No. 2 in D Minor." Mark Nichols '67 will appear as student soloist in the concerto. To end the concert on the lighter side the audience will be treated to highlights from the hit Broadway musical Mame.
