The annual Student Council Exchange will be held on April 12. This year's plan for an exchange is a relatively new idea. Instead of participating with just one school, there will be six or seven schools in the Chicago area visited by Maine West students in just one day.
The schools that will take part are Evanston, Lyons Township, Elk Grove, New Trier East, Hinsdale, Niles East, and Oak Park‑River Forest.
Bonnie Witzl '68, public relations chairman of Student Council, said, "Two representatives from Maine will be going to each of these schools for the period of one day. One representative will be from Student Council, and the other will be from a different club or organization. We not only hope to visit the Student Councils of the other schools but also to visit their clubs and organizations, so that we may learn from their problems and successes."

The purpose of the Student Council Exchange is to provide better relations with other schools and information for the organizations of our own school. The representatives from the clubs will be selected or elected, and the representatives from Student Council will be chosen through a special election within the Council.
Mr. Eldon Burk, sponsor of Student Council, says, "I think that this exchange can be very beneficial in broadening our outlook as to the functions and usefulness of Student Council and other major organizations in the years to come."
