Contend For Executive Positions

Today, sixth period, ends the voting for the president and secretary of the Student Council. Tomorrow, April 8, the newly elected officers will be announced at the Election Jitney to be held in the cafeteria at 8 p. in.

Bill Zografos, whose campaign manager is Carolyn Hummel, and Allan Long, whose campaign manager is Lee Rodin, were the two candidates running for president. Bill says he is for keeping the Council as is but with minor improvements such as fewer but more effective drives. Al says he will work for more student participation in the Council.

Running for secretary were Marilyn Hajost with campaign manager Mary Ann Jados, Debbie Sider with campaign manager Karen Gatsis, Linda Wells with campaign manager Trisha Clement, and Bonnie Witzl with campaign manager Carole Hway.

The Election Week officially began when the campaign headquarters were opened to students on Saturday, April 1. Al Long's headquarters were at the homes of Lee Rodin, Bill Caddy, and John Holtz. Bill Zografos had his at his own home, Carolyn Hummel's, and Scott Doherty's.

Marilyn Hajost held her headquarters at Nancy Heller's, Marilyn Kalata's, and at her own home. Connie Stecher and Karen and Renee Gatsis used their homes as campaign headquarters for Debbie Sider.

Linda Wells' headquarters were at Kathy Malten's, Joe Richardson's, and Rosie and Jim Braun's. Bonnie Witzl's headquarters were at Carole Hway's and Karen and Verna Jacks.

The candidates and their campaign managers were first introduced during the homeroom assemblies March 27‑30. On Monday, April 3, the candidates gave speeches to the Freshman and Junior Classes at the election assemblies; and on Tuesday, April 4, they addressed the Sophomores and Seniors.

On April 3, 4, and 5 the candidates were in the gymnasiums in the mornings putting on skits, giving speeches, and answering questions. During these days campaigning was carried on throughout the lunch periods and after school at the campaign headquarters until 10 p.m.

Active campaigning stopped yesterday, April 6, when the voting began in the morning and continued throughout the lunch periods and after school. This morning ballots were still being cast, but voting will cease today after the lunch periods.
