Class of '68 To Glimpse 'Paradise'

"An Adventure in Paradise," this year's Junior Prom, will be held Saturday evening, May 20, in the Maine West auditorium from 8:30 to 11:30. Plans have been made by the Junior Class Council to make this affair a memorable one.

The important prom committees are publicity, with Diana Quinn in charge; invitations and bids, headed by Sharon Clark; entertainment, under the leadership of Linda Johnson; and refreshments, with Kathy Kelly in charge.

The decoration committee, under the supervision of Lorie Vogtritter, has planned a south sea atmosphere. The auditorium will be decorated with Tiki gods and grass shacks.

There will also be special lighting effects produced by the audio‑visual department. R‑104 will be decorated in the same manner and used for refreshments. Special torches will be set up to light the patio.

Linda Johnson's entertainment committee has scheduled Wayne Markworth's Orchestra to provide music for the evening. Refreshments for this annual event will include punch and cookies.

The junior class officers for this year are Bill Robertson, president; Ellen Sangster, treasurer; Linda Wells, secretary; and Greg Essig, vice‑president. Class sponsors are Miss Diane Schlieckert and Mr. David Grobe.

"All of the officers and kids in Class Council have been working since December on the prom and are hoping to increase the attendance by having it in the auditorium. The auditorium was originally designed so that dances might be held on the main floor. R‑104 and the patio will also add to the atmosphere, and at present we are trying to secure permission for use of the elevator on the night of the prom," stated Bill Robertson.

Ron Colberg, prom chairman, said, "There are so many great things about it like the use of the auditorium, and the music is going to be terrific. I hope that everyone is planning to attend."
