Saturday, April 1, at 7 p.m. signaled the beginning of spring as the Music Boosters, the parents of the students of the Maine West Music Department, sponsored their annual Pow‑Wow.
The Pow‑Wow, which is held yearly at Maine West, had a variety of entertainment for everyone. Tickets could be purchased at the door or from students in the Music Department for $1.
The ticket entitled one to a chance for one of the many door prizes. This year's door prizes ranged from a portable TV., a stereo, a typewriter, and transistor radios, to record albums. These prizes were on display in the showcase in front of the auditorium.
To give the flavor of an old fashioned carnival, A‑wing gym was used as a game room, containing games of skill and chance with prizes for that special someone. In the auditorium special entertainment was provided at 7:30 and 9 p.m. The show included the Terrace Singers and featured entertainer Mr. Ed Barron, professional; also featured were excerpt from this year's musical Flower Drum Song, to be presented April 20, 21, 22.
