Linda Pinzke, 'Willard Hazel'
Produce Flower Drum Song

"Join lots of clubs and participate in the many programs offered here at Maine" is the advice Linda Pinzke gives to students.

This active senior is a member of the National Honor Society, Sigma Chi Sigma, Tri‑M, and Thespian Society. Her stage accomplishments include Elijah and South Pacific. Last year she was the student director of George Washington Slept Here and is presently directing the musical, Flower Drum Song.

For the past three years Linda has also participated in V-Show. She has been its choral director and an assistant choreographer for two years.

"Pinzk," as Linda is known to her friends, revealed her most embarrassing moment occurred during a dress rehearsal for V‑Show. "I was dancing in the kick line and later realized that I had gone on without my show pants," laughed Linda.

Linda has also been a member of Pegasus Club, Choraliers, Aquiana, class council, and Spanish Club. This year she is on the Pom‑Pon Squad.

"If I could change anything at Maine," sighed Linda, "I would lengthen the periods because I can never find enough time to do everything." However, she manages to find time to read two books a week and sew. Her hobbies include horseback riding, playing the guitar, and singing.

Linda's heavy schedule includes English IVAP, Biology IIAP, Chemistry IIAP, economics, and Concert Choir. She is also on the leader program. Her favorite subject is science, which she is planning to major in at college.

In the fall Linda is considering attending either the University of Iowa or Northern Illinois. After graduation she would like to teach high school biology.

Linda feels that the best thing at Maine is the advanced placement courses. "They give kids a chance to learn for themselves and to get ahead," commented Linda. "By taking advanced placement courses, she continued, "I have gained a greater sense of responsibility."

The 5' 11", brown‑haired, brown‑eyed senior who goes around singing "slow down, you move too fast" is none other than talented Bill Nagel.

Bill, alias "Willard Hazel" to his friends, was active in his freshman and sophomore years in class council, wrestling, and was president of Tri‑S in his sophomore year.

He has worked on stage crew for two years, including V‑Show last year and this year, and South Pacific.

This year he acted as one of the lead characters, "Tom," in The Glass Menagerie and is now busy in Flower Drum Song. Also he is in M‑Club and is on the committee for the M‑Club dance.

Bill's hobbies include "winter sports of any kind especially tobogganing, sledding, and sailing. I'd say girls, but they're more of an art than a hobby," he added with a laugh.

When asked what his favorite television program was, he exclaimed, "The Avengers! That's super cool!" "Hippy, super cool, and teeny bopper" are his most common and favorite expressions.

"The most important thing about Maine West is the excellent teachers; athletics is our strongest point. We have great teams at Maine!" remarked the football player, who has lettered in varsity football as a tackle.

"Willard's" pet peeves are "people who quit without trying, girl's with bleached hair, and white sox with a suit."

When asked what his most embarrassing moment was, he laughed and replied, "It's when I split my pants during rehearsals and had to try and hide. That was bad news! I think that was my most funniest moment too!"

This senior, who claims, "I don't throw tantrums very often," is planning on attending Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. He will major in speech arts and social science.

At present, he is taking English lVE, accounting, modern history, probability and statistics, and drama. Since he started school, he's been on the honor roll six times.

Bill's advice to students is "Freshmen should get involved in more activities and try to get to know as many people as they possibly can."
