A tie and a victory were posted by the Warrior baseball team when they played Niles West and Oak Park. These two games preceded the opening of the Conference season, which began last Monday.
Played on Tuesday, April 11, the Niles West game was led by the Warriors all the way until the last half of the last inning. Al Fritz pitched scoreless baseball until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Niles tallied four unearned runs. The game was called because of darkness with the score tied at 4‑4.
Maine got two quick runs in the first inning. Dick Manny led off with a walk and was erased on Phil Murdock's fielder's choice. Harry Tistle doubled to place runners on second and third. Bob Banger then proceeded to drive in Phil and Harry with a base hit.
The Warriors scored again in the sixth inning. Tistle and Banger led off with walks. Ted Waskowski attempted a sacrifice, but reached second base on an error, scoring Tistle.

Maine West took a four‑run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning after they scored once more in the top of that inning. Manny reached first base on an error, stole second base, and was singled home by Tistle. Niles West scored their four runs by getting two walks, two errors, and a double.
West defeated Oak Park on Wednesday, April 12, by a score of 2 to 1. This game was also played away.
Maine opened up the scoring in the second inning. Harry Tistle tripled and scored on a long sacrifice fly by Waskowski.
The Huskies tied the score with a run in the third inning. However, the deciding run was scored by Maine West in the fourth inning when Tistle walked, stole second, went to third on a passed ball, and was sacrificed home by Banger. The remaining three innings went scoreless.
