John Stone is this week's Warrior of the West. He has brown hair, hazel eyes, and stands 6' 1".
Last year John received his letter in tennis. He plans to earn another this year. Concerning the tennis team, John predicts, "If we really put forth effort this season, we should take Conference."
When questioned as to his favorite sport, John simply said, "I like them all!" His advice to boys working on tennis letters is "not to get discouraged and to keep pushing, no matter what."
According to John, "getting back into shape once you are out of shape" is the hardest part of training.
Through participation in high school sports, John has learned sportsmanship and a sense of competition.
John enthusiastically states that the best thing about Maine is "the winning way of the teams and the good coaches!" Although he does not think that school spirit is outstanding, he feels it cannot be improved.
"Either you've got it or you haven't" is John's point of view.

Next year John hopes to attend the University of Illinois.
After college he plans to continue his schooling and become a dentist.
John maintains his 3.2 grade average by "coordinating my many activities with the time available." When he does have some spare time, John enjoys babysitting with his little brother.
There is only one thing which John would like to change about himself. "I wish I didn't get so tensed up and nervous before a match."
An example of this occurred in his sophomore year. He was warming up before a Conference match. In a nervous attempt to hit the ball, the tennis racket slipped out of his hand and broke!
People who are always saying "Give me a break!" is John's pet peeve.
John claims that his favorite foods are TV dinners and Great Shakes.
His favorite expression is "fab‑gear."
