The AFS Bus Stop will take place during the week of July 5‑7. Thirty‑nine foreign exchange students will be on their way home from Iowa.
Volunteers are needed to house the students during their stay in Des Plaines. According to Dhyan Fehrenbacher '67, AFS chairman, there are only two requirements necessary to qualify as a host family.
There must be a car and a licensed driver available for transportation at all times. Secondly, the student must be provided with a separate bed.
Dhyan's solution for an extra bed is simple. "Make a little sacrifice and sleep on the couch for a day or two!"
Of the 39 students, 19 are boys and 20 are girls. They will arrive Wednesday morning, July 5, at the bus concourse. The rest of the day will be spent in getting acquainted with the students.

On Thursday, July 6, the host and his student will take a sightseeing trip to Chicago. Dhyan says, "The exchange students will see things they think of as world famous but we take for granted."
Thursday night there will be an all‑school dance with entertainment and a combo. It will give all Maine students a chance to meet the exchange students. Tickets for this dance will be sold some time in May.
The students will leave early Friday morning and continue to New York. As Dhyan puts it, "It's such an exciting opportunity to have a student in your home. It's the next best thing to having a foreign exchange student for all year!"
Applications to be a host family may be obtained either from Dhyan or in the Main Office.
