Clubs To Hold Banquets
Marking Season's End

Next week marks the beginning of the end of‑the‑year banquet season. The annual round of dinners and desserts gets under way with four club dinners and one dessert.

The banquets will be held by Quill and Scroll Society, Key Club, Future Nurses' Club, and Diversified Occupations; the dessert will be given by Pep Club.

The first dinner will be the one held by the Diversified Occupations Department on Monday, May 8, at Heuer's Restaurant in Rosemont. Among the guests and guest speakers will be Mr. Herman Rider, principal, Mr. Robert Wells, assistant principal, and Mr. Robert Cochrane, chairman of the Industrial Education Department. Mr. Bogaard of the State Office of Vocational Education will also be on hand.

One feature of the evening will be the presentation of plaques to all employers participating in the D.O. program. Mr. L. Hocken, chairman of the Industrial Education Department at Maine East, will present Mike Ladner with his Kiwanis Vocational Scholarship.

Pep Club will hold its annual awards tea on May 9 after school in the cafeteria. All Pep Club members are invited; members receiving awards will receive special invitations. Awards will be given for points and also for special contributions to the club. The Pep Club Banquet will be held May 23. After the dessert on Tuesday the officers will retire to the woods for a picnic.


The Quill and Scroll Banquet, set for May 10 at Heuer's, will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the presentation of service awards and the announcement of new Quill and Scroll members. Mr. Herman Rider will be present to present the Quill and Scroll membership cards and pins; Mr. Robert Rupar will present the service awards. Also attending will be members of the Legend and Westerner staffs and members of the journalism class. The highlight of the evening will be the announcement of staff positions for next year.


Also to be held on May 10 is the Key Club Banquet. This will be held in the cafeteria at school at 7 p.m. Special guests will include the parents of Key Club members and members of Kiwanis International.
