Pin‑ups Come to MW

The '67‑'68 student activities calendar which will be sold in the bookstore will feature something different next year. Calendar girls have been elected from the sophomore class after homeroom nominations and semi‑final elections.

There will be one girl representing each month between August and June and a cover girl, Jenny Schmeissing. Jenny received the largest number of votes. The other 11 girls are Marty Bushey, Donna Ellwanger, Sue Evans, Donna Hughes, Jo Hynes, Birdie Kabot, Debbie Larson, Birgit Lonergan, Debbie Mateling, Wendy Mueller, and Diane Warrington.


Tomorrow the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) Tests will be taken in the Maine West library and cafeteria. Applications for this test have previously been submitted by those students wishing to take the tests. The CEEB's are designed for juniors wishing early acceptance into certain colleges, as college entrance exams, and for scholarship opportunities.


The American College Tests (ACT) will be administered Saturday, May 13. These tests will be run the same way and are also for college entrance.

Pictures for student I.D. cards and the Legend will be taken Monday and Tuesday, May 8 and 9. Each English I, II, and III class will be assigned a time when the students will be photographed.

Boys are requested to wear a sports coat or a dark sweater and a tie. Girls should wear a sweater or a plain blouse with a simple collar.


Representatives of the Illinois State Employment Agency will be at Maine West from May 15 to May 31. Students who took aptitude tests during March will have their test scores analyzed. The representatives will tell those students in what field they have the greatest potential.


Science awards will be presented Tuesday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Maine West auditorium. Those receiving the awards have been recommended by their science teachers. These 275 students are from all classes and fields of science.


Five Maine West students have 'won national awards in art. Pieces were exhibited from 57 regional contests throughout the United States. Gold metals were awarded to Bonita Junius '67 for sculpture and Kathy Klecka '67 for a woodcut print. George Bethurem '67 won two honorable mentions for pencil sketching and sculpture. Gwen Jones '68 and Sharon Klatt '67 received honorable mentions in collage and sculpture respectively.
