Some outstanding success was achieved by the varsity tennis men of Coach Roger King during the past two weeks, as they dropped only one meet in five efforts. The loss was a big one, however, with the powerful squad of Arlington administering a 4 to 1 knockout blow to the Conference championship hopes of the Warriors.
Second place was nailed down fairly well last Thursday when the racketmen slipped by Forest View 3 to 2 on a second doubles victory courtesy of Warriors Don Clark and Bill Caddy.
Coach King described the week immediately preceding the Arlington meet as "one of the most successful we have ever had." The Warriors began by shutting out Wheeling 5 to 0 and then taking both ends of a double dual meet with Maine East and Maine South. The win over Maine South gave the Warriors their fourth dual meet win over defending Conference titleholders.

In another comment Coach King stated that first singles player John Stone's three victories against Wheeling, Maine East, and Maine South established him as "one of the best players in the area."
The Warriors have hit on a fairly successful combination now with Stone in first singles, Dave Williams handling second, and Larry Scully playing third.
The doubles are played by Scott Schlesser and Hank Blau in the first slot and Don Clark and Bill Caddy in the second position.
Most of this week has been spent in preparation for the State District Meet this Friday and Saturday at Arlington.
