Legion Announces Winners

A test on the United States Constitution, sponsored by the American Legion Post 36, was given to approximately 100 students on April 11 in A‑201. Of this number Jane Engle '68, Cathy Gano '67, Dick Manny '67, Diane Meyer '68, Sue Turner '67, and Anita Waskowski '67 were chosen as finalists.

These six finalists returned on April 20 to take an oral examination in the library conference room. The oral test covered the student's interpretation and understanding of the Constitution. Copies of questions from previous years were put on reserve in the library in order to provide an equal chance for all students to prepare for the test.

Six members of the American Legion gave the oral examination to determine the winner. They were Mr. James Radelein, Americanism committee chairman; Mr. Floyd Fulle, vice-chairman; Mr. Ralph Geils, Mr. Kenneth Griffin, Mr. Harold Olrich, and Mr. Fred Pullman.

With the testing over the American Legion declared Diane Meyer the winner and awarded her a $200 scholarship. Her name was inscribed on the American Legion Constitution Contest plaque, which is on display in the library. Cathy Gano was named as runner‑up.
