Joe Guides Senior Class For Past Year

On many Friday afternoons "he" can be seen in B-106 presiding over meetings of the Senior Class Council. Every day between fifth and sixth periods "he" can be seen leaning against the trophy case leading to A‑wing waiting for "that" certain someone." Oh, yes, who is "he"? Why, Joe Richardson, president of the Senior Class, of course.

Six‑foot, one‑inch tall, not ugly, with brown hair and with eyes that don't match (one is blue‑green and the other is greenish‑yellowish brown), he can also be seen in classes like geology, analytic geometry, government, and English IVAP.

"He" also finds time to be active in things like Brotherhood Society, Student Council, Ski Club, and National Honor Society, of which he is president.

On the night of the National Honor Society initiation, "he" could have been seen and heard as he introduced Mr. Herman Rider as the "President of Maine Township High School West." This ranks among Joe's most embarrassing incidents.

Another thing that made him feel rather sell‑conscious occurred at the Homecoming dance. "I had to crown Sheila Quinn as Homecoming Queen. That wasn't bad, it's just that it got sort of embarrassing because I had to do it four times so that pictures could be taken."

It seems that Joe had a rather embarrassing moment at a restaurant after the Christmas Formal. That was so embarrassing that he won't even say what happened!

Even though he is now in positions of responsibility, Joe is probably the only student at Maine West to have gotten a detention on Freshman Day.

"Joe‑Joe" as he is called by "a certain someone" says that there are two things that really bother him: "people who judge everything by someone's appearance" and "having to write an English theme every Sunday." He is also disturbed by the lack of respect many students have for the school. Also "I dislike having people criticize my use of the words 'well' and 'good.'

"He" plans to work this summer "if I can find some job worthy of my talents." In September "he" plans to attend Cornell University where he will major in engineering.

On the night of June 7 Joe will be seen as he leads the Class of 1967 into the Maine East Field House to receive the diplomas.
