"I just can't stand those purple bikinis with pink polka dots," claims vivacious, 5' 5", blond Katie Levan. Kate, "twerp," is the vice‑president of the Senior Class and adds "Champagne that doesn't fizzle is another of my pet peeves."
When asked about her hobbies, Kate asserted, "Water skiing, snow skiing, and parties are a lot of fun; but I really get a big kick out of doing the shimmy."
Katie revealed, "Going to Maine West has given me the opportunity to meet and get along with all sorts of people. Mr. Jobst's homeroom is a good example."
Classes for this year include English IVAP, law, chemistry, and French IV. Kate thinks law is her favorite class because "Mr. Drain is IN!"
"I think Maine West is a good school because of the mutual respect the students and teachers show toward each other. Everyone should be sure to take advantage of the opportunities he has to learn."
"These past four years have gone by so fast, it's really hard to believe; yet they have been so rewarding and enjoyable."
The Pom‑Pon Squad, Student Council, Brotherhood Society, Class Council, the Honor Roll, Ski Club, V‑Show, and Senior representative to the Christmas Formal court were among Kate's activities this year.

Kate said that her most embarrassing moments occurred when she forgot Pom‑Pon routines.
"An improvement for Maine West would be an authorized senior ditch day so that kids wouldn't get in trouble. Of course, if it were authorized, the kids probably wouldn't go!"
"Seriously, I think that hall pass rules are too strict, and the students should be allowed to accept more responsibility."
When questioned about activities in her spare time, Kate added, "Are you kiddin' me?
I work part time during the summer, and I enjoy parties. I also like being alone with a few friends."
Katie's favorite foods include cashew nuts, peanut butter and celery, and grape gum balls. "I also like wedding cake as long as it isn't mine!" Kate's favorite vacation spot is Acapulco, Mexico.
Kate plans to go to Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and then to law school. "I'm really going to miss all my teachers and friends."
