Grad Wins Book Award For West

Mrs. N. V. Filbey, assistant to the Dean of Women, University of Illinois, recently notified Mr. Herman L. Rider, principal, that Maine West was the recipient of the 1967 Book Award presented by the University Mothers' Association.

The Book Award is in honor of Carol Ann Collister who was valedictorian of Maine West's Class of 1966. Carol, a sophomore at the University, has achieved a straight "A" average.

According to Mr. Willis Lindeman, head librarian, the book, Basic Works of Aristotle, edited by Richard McKeon, as well as a distinguishing nameplate, has been received and placed in the library in honor of Carol.

Maine West has received one other award from the Mothers' Association in honor of David Thinnes '65. The book, Flash of Genius, by Alfred Garrett, is in the library presently.
