The Warrior baseball team clinched the Mid-Suburban League title for the seventh consecutive year since Maine first opened under the fine direction of Mr. Al Carstens, head coach, and Mr. Gaston Freeman, assistant coach. The title was decided after the diamondmen turned in a 6-5 victory over Forest View on May 24.
Highlights of the game include seven hits by the Warriors and the fine pitching of Harry Tistle who has a 8‑0 record. In the first inning three runs were driven in. Another run was knocked in by the Warriors in the third. Two more in the fourth inning made the score 60 in favor of Maine.
The diamondmen held the lead at 6‑0 until the seventh inning when the Falcons of Forest View started a rally going. Five of their players crossed the plate. Tom Kehe ended up with three hits for the day. Bob Banger produced two hits, and Ted Waskowski got two hits.
On Monday, May 22, the Warriors beat Prospect by a score of 7‑2. Dave Kingmen, the Prospect fastballer, was once again throwing unbelievably wild and gave up 11 walks while Al Fritz, who has a 7‑2 record, struck out 10 batters.

In the first inning of the game Tom Kehe first lined a foul ball down the left‑field line but then came back and smashed a fly ball over the right fielder's head. Kehe ran the bases and scored the first run of the ball game before the ball was even thrown from the outfield.
The second inning turned out even better for the diamondmen as Kingman started walking more than half of the Warrior lineup. Kurt Felde, Ted Waskowski, Al Fritz, Tom Kehe, and Harry Tistle all drew walks in succession to bring in two Warrior runs without much effort.
Bob Banger walked the third run in. Then Tom Pyron tried to score Banger on a single to left field, but Bob was thrown out at the plate. The Warriors scored five runs in the second inning and one in the third to lead the Prospect Knights 7‑0.
The Knights managed to get two runs in the fourth inning, though, to make the final score 7‑2.
Maine finished in first place in Conference with a 11‑1 record; Forest View and Prospect tied for second with 8‑4‑1 records.
