'Warriors' Question Council

Dear Council:
Why doesn't Maine West have a Coke machine?

Thirsty

Dear Thirsty:
We have asked Miss Engen about a cold drinks machine. She gave us three reasons why we cannot have one: (1) The cans or cups and the Coke get thrown around; (2) It would have to be constantly serviced; (3) Coke may be obtained at Well's Store a block away from Maine after school.

Dear Council:
Why can't we push cafeteria tables together for lunch?

5A Lunch Kids

Dear 5A Lunch Kids:
It is not possible to have the tables together in the cafeteria because of three reasons: (1) If the tables are pushed together, a fire hazard is caused. Kids would not be able to get from one side of the cafeteria to the other rapidly; (2) It is also for the convenience of the kids and teachers to keep an aisle open for traffic; (3) If something were to happen on one side of the tables on one side of the cafeteria, teachers would have to go around tables instead of between two tables. These answers came from Mr. Cochrane. Student Council is sorry for this inconvenience, but this is not in its jurisdiction.

Dear Council:
I think Maine West should have figure skating, speed skating, and ballet clubs.

Ambitious

Dear Ambitious:
The Des Plaines Park District sponsors figure and speed skating. Modern Dance Club here at Maine offers such things as ballet. Maine also is offering a Ski Club this year.

Dear Council:
Why aren't the students allowed to leave the library by the C‑wing door?

Crushed

Dear Crushed:
Everyone must leave by a central door so that all books can be checked.

If you have any suggestions, put them in the suggestion box next to the attendance office. We will try to answer them.
