Cheryl Bard is a brown‑eyed blond taking an active part in the Senior Class play this year. She has been active in her past three years at Maine West with the Westerner, Student Council, French Club, Spanish Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Aquiana.
She has one pet peeve about the students at Maine West. "Students don't take advantage of all the great activities." Her advise to students is to "Get involved in school activities and arrange your courses so that you can have time for fun in your senior year." Cheryl believes that there could be more school spirit than there is.
Besides being active in social activities, she has a full schedule this year. Her courses include English IVAP, Spanish IIIAcc, French IV, and government. Her future plans are to enter Stanford University or the University of Colorado.
Some day Cheryl plans to write a great American novel in French!
Cheryl likes to surf when she is in California, but right now the Senior Class play is occupying most of her spare time.
Does Cheryl have a most embarrassing moment? Yes, she forgot her swimming suit at the Indiana Dunes the day after the Junior Prom.
"Ton O' Fun" is the brownhaired, green‑eyed, five‑foot two inch senior, normally known as Arlette Dawson, who will play one of the leads in the Senior Class play, You Can't Take It with You. Arlette says it's a funny play and "It should be great." She loves working on it and comments, "In fact, I enjoy being yelled at."
Arlette thinks Maine West is great, and she's glad she's here. Her only advice to students is "Make the most of your high school years."
Arlette says the funniest thing that ever happened to her was the time she walked into the boys' locker room at a wrestling quadrangle. A fellow in the shower just stood there looking at her. Arlette's comment was "That took the cake!"

Another time she wrote a page and a half (in very small print) of her qualifications for Student Council. When it came time for her friend to make a speech for Arlette, she simply held up Arlette's paper for all to see. Arlette wasn't there at the time, but she is now a member of Student Council.
Arlette is taking chemistry, government, English lVE, and stage crafting. She is V‑Show director and president of Thespian Society. She plans to attend Purdue University.
The one thing Arlette would really like to know is "Who's afraid of Arlette Dawson?"
Would you believe Dave Freer is a grandfather? You'd better believe it because it's true‑not in real life, of course, but in the Senior Class play, You Can't Take It with You, this six‑foot, one‑inch "character" plays the part of "Grandpa."
Dave is very interested in the performing arts and says the best thing about Maine is the "many opportunities it gives students to participate in extracurricular activities, especially theatrical productions." His advice to students is, however, "Don't get so involved in extracurricular activities that they interfere with your homework."
This year Dave's homework comes from Biology IIAP, English IVW, radio and television broadcasting, government, and economics. Besides all of this, he finds time for Thespian Society, lighting crew, and being president of his church youth group.
Dave recalls his funniest incident to have occurred in last year's V‑Show. In one of his acts he went to ring an imaginary doorbell, and it went knock knock.
Dave is a very easy‑going person with only one pet peeve which is "people who are so steeped in tradition and dogma that they won't consider an idea unless it conforms to their standards‑in other words, people who aren't open‑minded."
Dave has only one plan for the future ‑ "to grow up." He hopes to do some of this growing while attending the University of Illinois.
