G.A.A. Says

The Maine West Girls' Tennis Team began its fourth year of competition in the North Suburban Tennis League by defeating Glenbrook North 6‑0, Niles North 7‑0, and Maine East 7‑0.

Scores of the single matches in the Glenbrook North game were Dot French (6‑0, 6‑0), Bonnie Junius (6‑2, 6‑0), and Jane Engle (6‑2, 6‑2). Double team scores were Ruth Christian and Pat Clement (6‑2, 6‑4); Renee Gatsis and Donna Woollard (6‑1, 6‑3); Karen Gatsis and Jan Rowan (6‑2, 6‑1).

In the Niles North match on Tuesday, October 4, single scores were Dot French (6‑2, 6‑0), Bonnie Junius (6‑2, 6‑3), Jane Engle (6‑2, 2‑6, 6‑3), and Sue Stein (6‑2, 6‑4). Double scores were Ruth Christian and Pat Clement (6‑1, 6‑2); Renee Gatsis and Donna Woollard (6‑1, 6‑2); Karen Gatsis and Gail Branda (6‑1, 6‑4).

In the Maine East game, October 5, singles scores were Dot French (6‑0, 6‑0), Bonnie Junius (6‑0, 6‑0), Sue Stein (6‑0, 6‑4); Jane Engle won by forfeit. Doubles scores were Ruth Christian and Pat Clement (6‑1, 6‑1); Renee Gatis and Donna Woollard (6‑2, 6‑4); Karen Gatsis and Jan Rowan won by forfeit.

The G.A.A. Executive Board this year consists of Linda Pagel, president; Diane Clark, secretary‑treasurer; Pat Jacobson, social chairman; and Renee Gatsis, intramurals chairman.

The club is hoping for a very profitable year. All girls are invited to help.
