The PTC Open House will be held Tuesday, November 8, and Tuesday. November 15, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Parents whose last names begin with A through L should attend on November 8, and parents whose last names begin with M through Z should attend on November 15.
When the parents enter the building, they will be given an alphabetized list containing the teachers' names and the rooms in which they can be found. The parents will then go to these various rooms and spend about two or three minutes talking with each teacher. After these conferences the parents are invited to go into the cafeteria where refreshments will be served.
There will be a limit of three minutes for the conversations between the parents and the teacher so that the teacher will be able to see and talk to every parent. This period of time has usually proved to be sufficient in the past for discussion. If further discussion is desired, the parents are asked to make an appointment with the teacher during regular school hours.

Mr. Robert A. Wells, assistant principal, said that the main purpose of the Open Houses is to let the parents and the teachers meet each other and become acquainted. "This has always been a big event at Maine West," Mr. Wells stated, "and students are welcome to accompany their parents. Students are asked to urge their parents to attend." He also feels that a large turnout can be expected. At the Open Houses during the last few years, about 2,000 people have attended annually.
On November 8 and November 15 school will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m. The eighth period will be omitted on November 8, and the ninth period will be omitted on November 15.
Hosts and hostesses, parents of the students at Maine, will be present in most of the rooms in order to help the teacher greet the parents. They are also responsible for seeing that the parents sign the registers which will be placed in each room. Any parent who wishes to be a host or a hostess should contact the teacher whom he wishes to assist.
These Open Houses, sponsored by the Parent Teacher Council, are held in connection with the American Education Week, which is the week of November 6‑12.
