V-Show Tryouts To Start Soon

Tryouts for the 1966‑67 Variety Show, "Patchwork of People," will be held in A‑220 beginning November 7 and continuing until sometime around Thanksgiving.

To be eligible to try out, signup sheets, which can be obtained in the main office, must be turned in to the main office by October 31. "That gives students only two days, so they had better sign up quickly!" urges Arlette Dawson, student director of the V‑Show.

"The theme for V‑Show is people," said Mr. John Graef, this year's director of the show, "so the acts should reflect people indifferent situations throughout the world." He also remarked that the acts will be judged on the content and originality rather than how polished the performance is.

Arlette, too, stressed this point adding, "It's the idea that counts. There will be plenty of time to perfect the performance later."

The V‑Show will be divided into two acts with 10 to 12 numbers in each act. This means that at least 20 will be chosen in the tryouts‑more, if many good acts try out. The judging will be done by Mr. Graef and the V‑Show staff.

According to Mr. Graef, response so far has been good, although there was not an overabundance of sign‑up sheets turned in at last count. At a preliminary meeting for people interested in participating in the V‑Show, 56 persons were present.

The V‑Show is tentatively scheduled to be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, February 16, 17, and 18.
