School 'Hop' To Show Unity

Maine South's spectator gym will be the scene of Maine Township's first tri‑school dance. It will take place Saturday, November 19, from 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by "The Mauds" who are under the same management as "Saturday's Children" and "The Shadows of Knight" and "The Chosen Few."

The purpose of Maine East, West, and South sponsoring it together is to promote a feeling of unity and better sportsmanship between the three schools.

The "Turkey flop" as it is to be called, will be a "couples only" dance. According to Doug Chase, Student Council president, the purpose of this is to prevent clashes between students. He admits, however, that having it stag would be much more profitable. Student Council, who is sponsoring the hop, hopes for a turnout of 1,000 students.

Bill Caddy, Social Committee chairman complained, "Kids are always asking for more dances, but when they get one, nobody supports it."

(Editor's note: This dance has been cancelled because of lack of interest.)
