Sixty boys were presented with varsity letters Wednesday night at the first of three yearly award nights sponsored by the Maine West Dads' Club.

Of those receiving letters for football, 24 were seniors. They are Don Bartholomae, George Bongratz, Greg Dolphin, Joe Elliott, Ernie Fulbright, Paul Grant, Dale Haase, Larry Harrison, Geof Hiltwein, John Kalb, Joe LeCastro, Keith Maculitis, Phil Murdock, Bill Nagel, Randy Ryden, Andy Sanchez, Fred Wascura, and Lee Yates. In addition to varsity awards, Dave Bixby, Craig Rowells, Ken Mandelky, and Dick Manny were named to the All‑conference team. Al Fritz received honorable mention.

Twenty‑two varsity letters were awarded in cross country, 11 of them going to seniors. They were Jim Braun, Jim Kesaris, Warren Schneider, Scott Schlesser, Richard Smith, Dennis Kamin, Larry Coffman, Tom Postema, and Bob Kariotis. Seniors Ed Lusk and Doug Chase were elected co‑captains.

Juniors receiving varsity letters were Bill Deuser, Paul Carter, Kurt Christensen, Rich Hagedorn, Bob Mack, Pete Klages, Scott Lewis, and Bill Frost. Junior Lee LaBadie was chosen Most Valuable Player.
