Intramural Reports

The final game of the Freshman football tournament took place on October 27. Coach Roger King's second period class took the honors by winning the game with a score of 18‑0. Members of the championship team were Grant Pick, Bob Olesen, Jim Kail, Fred Genther, Dick Cordts, Ron Finstad, Jeff Heydecker, and Gary Gyssler.

Winding up the Junior tournament was Coach Dave Kennedy's fourth period class with the score of 10‑0 in the final game. Ted Faught, Tom Trush, Del Mette, Larry Harper, Jim Stewart, and Jim Reid were on the championship team.

Approximately 35 boys turned out to participate in Intramural soccer. Mr. Hotchkiss stated that teams will be formed and competition will not be on a class basis. "It is really something to watch some of the boys bring the ball down the field," said Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, director. The boys he was referring to are the four "foreign" boys who have played soccer in their native countries. They are Marion Gizela '67, Waldemar Gizela '70, John Bravos '67, and our foreign exchange student Sukru Gurel '67.

Coming activities in Intramural sports are the table tennis tournament which will be held in the restricted gym classroom due to the winter sports practices that take place in the gyms after school. During the last two weeks of November, the basketball tournaments will take place. Competition will again be on a class basis and will be held in the B‑wing gyms. Mr. Hotchkiss said that free swims will not take place because the varsity and frosh‑soph swimming teams will be using the pool. The next swim will be held after the winter sports season has ended.
