Equipped with sandy‑blond hair, hazel eyes, and standing 5' 10 1/2" tall, Jim Braun is this week's Warrior. Jim participates in cross country and track and has earned two varsity letters in each.
Jim's favorite sport is track "because of the wide variety of events." Concerning the track team's chances this year, Jim commented, "If everyone does as well as he did last year, we should take Conference."
To boys going out for cross country, Jim advises, "Put your heart into it and stick with it all the way." Jimmy feels that the hardest part of training is a good, tough practice. In spite of the time that must be used, for practice, he doesn't find it too hard to keep up with his homework.
Jim's biggest thrill was the District track meet in his sophomore year when he and the mile relay team qualified for the State finals. Jim has also been one of the top seven cross country runners both this year and last.

Jim thinks that the most outstanding things about Maine West are the existence of the various clubs and the wide variety of courses that are offered. He believes that school spirit could be improved by more participation in the minor sports.
"People who walk on the wrong side of the hall" is Jim's pet peeve. His favorite foods are shrimp and potatoes. If there were anything Jim could change about himself, it would be his outspokenness.
"How to get along with people" is what Jim has learned from his membership on Maine West athletic teams. He plans to continue in athletics at Knox College and will study to be a research chemist.
