Should the foreign aid policy of the United States be limited to non‑military assistance, or should it stay as it is? This question is the topic of the 1966‑67 debate season. Mr. Merel Marine, a speech arts teacher, sponsors the debate team.

"They are an excellent team for having little experience," commented Mr. Marine, "and they are learning more with each debate." In their three practice debates the team won six and lost four. In their first two tournaments the 11 students won eight and lost eight.

The debate squad is divided into teams of four. In each of these teams there are two people debating for the affirmative side, which favors limiting foreign aid to non‑military assistance, and two for the negative side, which favors keeping the policy as it presently is.

Maine West has one of the smallest debate teams in proportion to its size. Mr. Marine would like more students to come out for the team. Anyone interested should contact him in B‑203.
