Bill, Cheryl, Doug, Elizabeth Perform
in 'Glass Menagerie'

This weekend marks the establishment of a new tradition at Maine West, the first allschool play. The remaining two performances of the play, The Glass Menagerie, will be presented tonight and tomorrow night in the auditorium at 8 p.m.

The production of this contemporary American drama by Tennessee Williams is being sponsored by Thespian Society.

Tickets are only $1 and can be purchased today in the bookstore or at the door tonight and tomorrow night.

The cast of The Glass Menagerie consists of four characters: Amanda, played by Cheryl Bard '67; Laura, played by Elizabeth Grange '67; Tom, played by Bill Nagel '67; and Jim, played by Doug Bergman '67. Mr. Garth Boyer, director of the play, commented on the size of the cast by saying, "You don't judge the worth of a

play on the number of characters it has. Most of the great plays have small casts, and this is one of the truly great plays."

Mr. Boyer also feels that the production of this play is a service to the student body since many students study this play in their classes. Mr. Boyer commented that no matter how thoroughly it may be analyzed in a class, "Studying a play is not the same as experiencing production of it. However, studying it should enhance the enjoyment of the play."

In Mr. Boyer's opinion there has been a need for an all-school play at Maine West for people who are interested in the theater both as performers and as an audience.

He hopes that all‑school plays can be a part of the program at Maine West in following years also.
