According to Dolores Webster, "The greatest thing about Maine West is the terrific attendance at the games so far this year. The kids are all fired up!"
This blue‑eyed, blond‑haired senior is active in Student Council, Pep Club, varsity cheerleading (captain), Brotherhood Society, and Senior Leaders. She is also Student Council's Mid‑Suburban League delegate.
School keeps Dolores busy with chemistry, English IVW, psychology for living, and government. With all these activities she still has time for sleeping, eating, practicing cheerleading, and for a certain Warrior.
"Peaches," as she is called, thinks that the most important things at Maine are the fine faculty and the high rating of the school. She does, however, have some suggestions for improving Maine. "Add a new wing, 17 new classrooms, and two gyms; build a fieldhouse; and put up the lights in our football stadium."
"Advice to students? Well, take advantage of the opportunities that are offered 'cuz' you're only in high school once," recommended Dolores. As for pet peeves, "I guess it's people who don't attend school functions and those who are always getting away with things."
Her most embarrasing moment occurred in her sophomore year. She was sunbathing in her backyard when five of her friends ran up, threw sheets over her, bound her with ropes, dumped her into a car, and drove off through town. Their final destination was Lions Woods and her surprise birthday party.
Dolores has spent the last nine summers in Canada. She toured all but one of the Candian provinces. Her favorite spot is Quebec City. Last summer she spent a week at cheerleading camp.
Her funniest experience occurred when she was swimming in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and lost the cap to her tooth. She had to go around for two weeks with her front tooth missing. "It looked just terrible!"
In the future she plans to go to the University of New Brunswick. Then she hopes to teach school in the States.

Has anyone seen somebody running around the halls lately with brown hair, brown eyes, who stands about 5' 6" tall? The runner is probably Dan Beck! "Frenchie," as his friends sometimes call him, has been active in Student Council, Historical Society, and orchestra since he moved from France to Des Plaines a few years ago.
Dan participated in Student Council last year and ran for president. He feels that "The kids should participate in activities when they are freshmen and not wait until they are juniors or seniors to do so." He wishes he had participated in school activities when he was a freshman because he missed all the fun.
Besides taking an active part in extra‑curricular activities, Dan spends time on homework, too! He is taking college trigonometry, English IVW, physics, Spanish IV, and gym. He plans to enter the University of Illinois at Urbana or Oberlin College in Ohio where he wants to major in chemical engineering.
Dan likes practically everything about Maine West. He says, "The teachers and the students are the greatest." The only thing he disapproves of are the assemblies. Dan feels that he could find better things to do. . .like studying.
"People who always want a school dance but never come to them" is one of Dan's pet peeves. He believes students should go to these events because of all the time others spent in preparing for them.
Has Dan had an embarrassing moment? Yes, one time in Student Council something was brought up, talked about and passed; and five minutes later Dan seconded the motion again. Besides that, he doesn't think he has ever been embarrassed.
One thing about Dan is that he enjoys almost everything he does. He does enough work to keep up an appetite, too. His favorite foods include steak and French fries. Last summer he worked for the airport making meals for the passengers. Dan said it was hard work, but it was fun!
