Student Council's annual Tuberculosis Drive is being held from Monday to Friday of this week.
Students may make contributions to the Tuberculosis Drive through their Student Council representative in homeroom. Donations may also be made in the cafeteria where charts of each class' contribution to the drive are posted.
Tuberculosis Drive chairman this year is Sheila Quinn '67. Creating and maintaining interest in the drive, letting the drive goals be known, and promoting an understanding of tuberculosis and its dangers were some of the duties of the publicity committee.
The publicity committee is headed by Sukru Gurel '67 and is comprised of Linda Wesolowski '69, Diane Fehrenbacher '67, Sue Odom '68, Darcy Gray '70, and Lynne Nielson '67.
Distribution of the Tuberculosis Drive materials such as collection cans, emblems, and posters is the job of Pete Dellegrazio '67, Randy Hann '69, Debbie Lusk '70, and Dolores Webster '67. All of the Distribution Committee is headed by Linda Wells '68.

chairman, Jody Kinder '69, Joe Richardson '67, Bill O'Neil '70, and Geoff Sorenson '68.
The purpose of these committees is to work toward reaching Maine's TB. Drive goal of $500.
Last year Student Council collected $249.25 over the needed $500. This was also true of the preceding years when Maine had succeeded in topping the set goal.
The results of the Tuberculosis Drive will be used in many ways. The funds collected at Maine will be used for the most part, to support the local fight against tuberculosis.
This fight will be waged by using the money collected in the T.B. Drive to finance tuberculosis skin tests, care of patients, education, and x‑rays. The remainder of the funds will be used to finance national research projects into the causes and possible cures of tuberculosis.
Maine West keeps in constant communication with the Tuberculosis Institute of Chicago and Cook County and the National Tuberculosis Association. This is done to promote an understanding of T.B. and its dangers and to encourage an understanding of what is needed to combat T.B.
