Warrior of the West

This week's Warrior of the West is green‑eyed, brown-haired Al Fritz. Al is 6' 2" tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has lettered in three sports.

Al has gone out for football and baseball. Al feels his most outstanding game was in football against Arlington, in which he made two touchdowns‑one on a double reverse and the second on a pass.

Through participation, Al feels he has acquired self‑discipline and sportsmanship. Getting in shape seems to be his biggest problem. He urges all boys to participate in sports and not to quit, but give it their best.

Al revealed, "The basketball teams should do pretty well. They have a lot of potential." Al enjoys basketball and is hoping for a good season. "They should do better than the past record," he said.

Northern is Al's first choice for college, and he hopes to attend on a scholarship. Basketball is his favorite sport, but he isn't concerned in which sport he will participate. "Just as long as I can participate," he said.

When asked what he would like to change about himself, Al quickly remarked, "There is just too much; I couldn't begin to try."

"School spirit is good so far this year, but I think more people should attend the pep rallies," Al said.

His favorite foods are steak, hamburgers, and spaghetti; but he doesn't get much time to enjoy them with his busy schedule. His favorite sayings are "Take it easy" and "Take it light."

Girls and music are his hobbies. "My pet peeves are nosy reporters and boys who go out for a sport and don't stick to it," Al stated.

His most embarrassing moment occurred when he got tackled by a small junior boy going through a four‑man block. "It was terrible," he said. "The guys still kid me about it."

Al's plans for the future are to attend college, participate in sports, and have an all‑around good life.
