Christmas Disease
Do You Have It?

By KATHIE WOLF

Do you have it‑that disease that is going around?

Nearly everyone has at least a mild case of it. It may be seen in their faces which take on a special glow and in their extra kind and friendly actions.

One of the most common symptoms of this disease may be described by the saying, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Shoppers throng into the gaily bedecked stores to buy, buy, buy. They are not criticized, though, because they are buying for others.

Another symptom is the "decorating phase." This phase generally appears 'while one is still full from "Turkey Day." People start buying wreaths, ribbons, cards, tape, wrapping paper, and colored lights as if these articles were being removed from the market.

One of the last symptoms to strike is the "sing, sing, sing" symptom. Many people have to reach way up into the attics of their minds to bring down the old, familiar carols.

At night people who have a very strong case of the "sing, sing, sing" symptom go from door to door and try to contaminate others. This is done by singing loudly and clearly an with much feeling.

You may have one or all of the symptoms of this disease. To find out, ask a friend to test you. If you have even one of these symptoms, you are sick, very sick.

Do not be alarmed, and do not go running helter‑skelter to your doctor. He probably has this disease, too. It has been noticed that it grows 'worse as the month of December progresses.

Although it is incurable, you should not be worried because it is the "Peace on earth, Good will to men" disease, otherwise known as the "Christmas Spirit." Most people contract it sooner or later, thank goodness!
