Grapplers To Seek Win From
Cougars Tonight

Tonight the varsity grapplers of Maine West go against the Cougars of Conant. The meet will start at 7 p.m. and will take place at Conant. The Warriors will be bidding for their fifth victory against four defeats.

Last Friday, January 13, the matmen lost a Conference meet with the Pirates of Palatine. The Warriors won five of the matches and tied one while losing six to make the score 22 to 17 in favor of the Pirates.

Curtin started out the meet at 95 pounds with a win for Maine West, but Dave Grutzius lost to Speer of Palatine by a score of 9 to 6. Letterman Kurt Christiansen followed with a 3 to 0 loss to Palatine's Mason, after which Maine's Bill Caddy was pinned by Pirate Esmail in

5:41. Greg Dolphin got the Warriors back on the winning side with a 3 to o win over the Pirates' Fuqua. But Warrior Kline lost to Tuttle of Palatine by a score of 6 to 2, and Helms of West followed at 138 pounds with a loss to Angelson of Palatine, 7 to 2. At 145 pounds, Jim Morrison of Maine and Schroeder of Palatine fought to a 1 to 1 tie. Gilmore beat Bahahue of Palatine by a score of 7 to 4 at 154 pounds, and Warrior Waecker scored 2 points against Palatine's Salinas to win 2 to 0. Szaltis then beat Stroud of Palatine by a score of 5 to 2 in the 180-pound class, but Lee Yates lost the heavyweight bout to Dolik of the Pirates 10 to 5. The final score was 22 to 17, Palatine.

Two weeks ago the Warriors lost their Conference meet against the Cardinals of Arlington by the score of 33 to 8.
